Andy Kampman, Director of Mobilization for the 100 People Network, recruits and trains people for missions work overseas. He issues a call for such people at The Austin Stone on a biannual basis. Every time he appears to make that call, though, he offers a pointed reminder: “There’s no such thing as an A Team and B Team.”

When I attended graduate school, I needed an extracurricular activity to keep me from becoming a hermit. (I turned into one my final year of college. I prefer not to repeat the experience.) Some people hold misapprehensions about the Christian life, thinking it weak or passive. The Bible, though, presents a different picture. It says the Christian life is not only active and strong but also engaged in a mighty war.
Alphabet Adventure: U is for Unguent
The letter “u” regularly acts as a best-supporting character. For example, it accompanies the letters “m,” “p,” and “q.” It often appears beside “n,” too, typically revealing a negative or opposing action: unhand, unconscionable, unappeased, unbelievable, et cetera, et cetera.
You Should Feel More Excited about the Residency
People keep asking if I’m excited about my provisional acceptance to The Austin Stone’s residency program. “Of course I am,” I reply. “Of course.” Something in my words, voice, or face must provoke doubt, though, because people, including complete strangers, grill me. “You don’t sound that excited.”
