Speak the Truth in Love
“Lies are the fig leaves we have sewn for ourselves.” — Halim Suh, The Austin Stone
For the Kingdom
The commandment, “You shall not steal,” concerns both wrong taking and wrong keeping. It is about stewardship and trust. It asks, “Do you believe that everything you have is from God?” The followup: “If you believe that, what doesn’t belong to God?” Those questions change the equation. When everything is God’s, I begin to ask how much I can give rather than how much I can keep, not only in relation to money but also people, talents, skills, everything.
